Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene

The Baroque Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene stands on a hill above Mala Gorica, providing a stunning view of Zagreb and Mt. Medvednica to the northeast, and of Samobor and the Samobor Highlands to the southwest. It was first mentioned in 1668 as a wooden cha

The Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene was constructed in Mala Gorica in the mid-18th century, at the site of two earlier wooden chapels from the mid-17th century. This is a Baroque structure with a quatrefoil layout and narrow sanctuary ending in an apse, and with a small bell tower over the facade.
A special feature is the main altar from 1600. This is the only preserved altar from this period in this region. It is wooden, two stories high, gilded and monochromatic, with five sculptures, an altar pale and a painting of the saint after which the chapel was named.
The position of the chapel is interesting, as it has a lovely view of Zagreb and Mt. Medvednica and the Samobor Highlands.
